To conquer the Universe of Creative Excellence as a competitor in IABC Fort Worth's 2010 Bronze Quill awards.
Mission Background:
Bronze Quill is the only local non-advertising annual awards competition for Tarrant County's professional communicators. For more than two decades, IABC/Fort Worth's mission has been to honor the best of local communications pieces, programs and campaigns at our annual Bronze Quill ceremonies.
Mission Duration:
Entries must be received no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2010. We will honor this year's winners at our Bronze Quill Awards luncheon on June 22, 2010.
Mission Components:
IABC/Fort Worth is accepting entries in 19 professional categories, including:
Communications Programs
A comprehensive project with a specific purpose and objective that's defined by a plan and has multiple pieces and a timeline. Examples: a fund-raising campaign, community awareness program, safety-at-work project, employee benefits communication or media plan. You may want to include any photos, specialty items, media clips, etc.

Graphic Design
Focus on the communication project's goals and results, heavily emphasizing typography, format, creative use of illustration/photography, production quality and use of resources.

Direct Mail Campaigns
Marketing materials developed to reach a specific target audience and elicit a response. A direct-mail program may include form letters, pamphlets, postcards, announcements, and market-specific brochures.
Public Service Announcements
Submit CDs, printed materials or photos of work.
Special Events/Meetings
Defined by a specific purpose, plan and documented results. Examples: sales presentations, product launches, awareness events, conventions/seminars or motivational meetings. You may want to include photos, specialty items, news clips or other related pieces with your submission.

Web Site
A web site launched on the World Wide Web that promotes either your firm or has been launched by your firm for a specific project. Submit URL or access address. Entries must include a CD and at least two sample printed pages.
Intranet
An internal company web site launched by your firm to keep employees informed and inspired. Submit URL, access address, at least two sample printed pages and CD. Include password if necessary.
Most Improved Publication
Last year's employee newsletter or company magazine, for example, received a complete makeover and it's better than ever. Submit a before and after and outline the reasons for the change.
Corporate Identity
A consistent graphic image applied to your firm's print and visual materials.
Social Media Campaigns
Give examples of moving your organization towards web 2.0. Examples could include blogs, facebook, twitter, flickr, etc.
Mission Eligibility:
Entries are eligible for submission if they:
- Were produced during 2009
- Are not a previous Bronze Quill Award winner
- Comply with category requirements (see www.bronzequill.com)
- Are received with the entry fee no later than 5 p.m. on April 20, 2010
Flight Fees:
- 1-2 Entries: IABC Members $40, Non-Members $50, Students* $10
- 3-5 Entries: IABC Members $35, Non-Members $45, Students* $10
- 3-5 Entries: IABC Members $30, Non-Members $40, Students* $10
* The student competition is restricted to part-time and full-time students who are engaged in the study of journalism, advertising, design, photography, public relations or related fields. The entrant must NOT be employed professionally in any of these industries.
Mission Launch Instructions:
Producing excellent communications is hard. Finding a local non-advertising competition that recognizes the best work produced by Tarrant County's professional communicators is harder unless your search brought you here for instructions and entry forms for this year's competition.
Mission Impossible?
Not this time. The entry process is easy and affordable. And you have plenty of time before the April 20 entry deadline if you start today.
