Accreditation 101

Applications due November 6

The next Accreditation 101 meeting is Tuesday, November 6 at 11:30 a.m. at Freese & Nichols. Are you ready to get started?

So far we have four "guinea pigs": Betsy Boyett, Laura Hanna, Ken Roberts and Amy Yancey. We need just one more to get the discounted show on the road.

If you have the qualifications and have always been interested in pursuing the ABC designation, now is the time to apply!

IABC’s Accreditation Program offers professional communicators a way to demonstrate their ability to think and plan strategically and to successfully manage the skills essential to achieving effective organizational communication.

Plus, if you join the peer group, the application fee is discounted: $325 for members; $414 for non-members. The application fee includes a copy of "The IABC Handbook of Organizational Communication" by Tamara Gillis, Ed.D., ABC. That sure does beat going it alone.

At the November 6 meeting, bring a lunch and your finished application to Freese & Nichols (4055 International Parkway, Suite 200, Fort Worth – Directions).

• Beginning at the December 4 meeting, we will work through the three steps toward accreditation:

    • Application process
    • Portfolio of work
    • Exam (written and oral)

The peer group is designed to help you every step of the way, so now is your chance to get that ABC you have been wanting!

Do you need more convincing? In that case, check out the prizes you will be eligible for! Join the group before November 6 and you will be entered in the drawing.

To learn more about the program and see if you meet the prerequisite qualifications, visit the Accreditation area of IABC's Web site.
